Guantanamera

The brand of cigars known as Guantanamera is manufactured by two different companies though the brand name is same. The name of the first company is Guantanamera Cigar and the factory is located in Miami in the state of Florida. The factory of the second company is located in Havana in Cuba and is known as Habanos SA which is owned by the state.
The Guantanamera brand of cigars was a comparatively new entrant into the cigar market when it was introduced in the year 2002 and has already become popular because of its low price. The Guantanamera brand of cigars probably got its name from a famous Spanish song titled “Guajira Guantanamera” sung in the evenings at the bars in Cuba depicting a peasant girl’s exploits.
The tobaccos used in the cigars made in Cuba usually come from the area called Vuelta Abajo situated in the Pinar del Rio region whereas the tobaccos used to make the Guantanamera brand of cigars are brought from the area called Vuelta Arriba which is situated in the centre of Cuba. The quality tobaccos from this place are rolled by machine to create the Minuto variety of the Guantanamera brand of cigars whose taste is a favourite because of its lightness.

The name of the brand was taken from the song “Guantanamera” written by a composer from Cuba named Joseito Fernandez in 1929. This song became famous in the days to come and there have been many reproductions of the song created by musicians from Latin America.
A second variety of the Guantanamera brand of cigars is manufactured by the company with the same name, i.e. Guantanamera Cigars which is located in Miami in Florida. Here the cigars are rolled by hand and premium tobaccos brought from Nicaragua are used in the manufacture of these cigars.
The Guantanamera brand of cigars is a cigar with a mild taste and light flavour. It is the cheapest of the Cuban cigars available in the market. This brand of cigars is available in five sizes which are all made by machines and have heads which have been cut before they are shipped. The Cristales variety is sold more than the others due to the tube attached to it.
