History

Perhaps no other cigar brand is held in any higher esteem than Davidoff. Founded by Zino Davidoff in the early 20th century, the brand has become synonymous with all things luxury and quality in the world of cigars.

Zino Davidoff was born in a Russian-controlled section of modern Ukraine, where political unrest forced his family to move to Switzerland. With a small family-run tobacco shop waiting for him, he traveled to Havana and immersed himself in the world of tobacco where he developed a deep passion for cigars. In 1946, he introduced his first line of cigars under the Davidoff name, and it quickly gained a reputation for excellence.

By 1968, his successes in selling Cuban cigars led the Cuban government to create a line of “Davidoff” branded cigars made at the now famous El Laguito Factory.  With a booming business, the Zino Davidoff Group spun off from the cigar brand, dabbling in everything luxury from watches and luggage to liqueurs and cologne.

While renowned worldwide for their flawless construction and intensely smooth flavor, not all was perfect in paradise. By 1991, several copyright disputes led to Davidoff officially dissolving his relationship with the Cuban government and moving production to the Dominican Republic.

Today, Davidoff offers a wide range of ultra-premium cigars that cater to connoisseurs and aficionados alike. Davidoff continues touting some of the very best cigars in the world with fan favorites such as the Millenium Series, Thousand Series, Chefs Edition, and Chinese New Year.

Davidoff's legacy continues to be a testament to the enduring pursuit of perfection in the world of cigars, with both its Cuban and Dominican lines contributing to its esteemed reputation.
